Abstract

1,169,889. Balustrading. IRONCRAFT CONSTRUCTION CO. (WORTHING) Ltd. 15 Feb., 1967 [15 Nov., 1965], No. 48403/65. Heading E1B. A wrought iron baluster is formed in two parts 20 and 21 connected together by a strap 12 which may be moved along the parts before it is fixed in position by, e.g. bending the parts locally, in order that the baluster may be adjusted in height to suit different height handrails 17. The parts are fixed to the rail 17 and the string 18 by screws passing through pre-formed countersunk holes 16 in the parts. Each part may have opposed major and minor scrolls 13 and 15, as shown, or may comprise a single scroll 24 (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) adjacent the mid-point of the baluster, and a bendable fixing lug 23 at the other end. The strap 26 in this embodiment may also be fixed to the parts 20 and 21 by grub screws.
