Abstract
1, 169, 537. Voltage measurement. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 10, 1966 [Nov. 19, 1965), No.49145/65. Heading G1U. A mean level A. C. voltage measuring arrangement incorporates a diode bridge arrangement 1 - 4 across one diagonal of which, A. C., the input voltage to be measured is applied, while across the other a D. C. instrument 9 in series with a resistor 10 is connected. The diodes are biased by a standing current through the instrument 9, derived by applying a voltage at 11 to the instrument circuit. In this way errors occurring with low inputs, which would normally cause the diodes to operate over non-linear parts of their characteristics, are avoided. The biasing voltage and the various resistance values are selected so that the instrument reading is completely accurate for at least two values of input. In a modification Fig. 2 (not shown) the resistor 10 is shunted by a diode and resistor to increase the accuracy of the arrangement. In a further modification Fig. 3 (not shown) accuracy is increased by applying the input through a negative feedback amplifier which has the circuit described above connected both as its load circuit, and to provide a current feedback path in the amplifier.
