Abstract

1,169,529. Spiked plates. AUTOMATED BUILDING COMPONENTS Inc. 19 Dec., 1966, No. 56821/66. Heading F2H. A connector plate for a roof truss which is assembled in a workshop and then dismantled for transporting to a site, comprises a number of short teeth 24 and relatively long teeth 26, the teeth 26 have increased resistance to withdrawal and are located in one half of the plate which remains connected to a structural member when the truss is dismantled. Nails passing through holes 28 are used to connect the other half during re-assembly. The teeth pattern leaves bands 58 of metal across the plate to preserve its strength. The teeth 24 and 26 may be distributed evenly across the plate, or all the teeth 24 may be in one half and all the teeth 26 in the other.
