Abstract

1,169,177. Clamps. CONTROLLED HEATING UNITS (LONDON) Ltd. 25 Oct., 1966 [25 Oct.; 1965], No. 45128/65. Heading E2B. [Also in Divisions F2 and H5] An assembly comprises an outer plate 4 adapted to overlap the edges of an opening in a wall, an inner plate 5 which is held permanently angularly displaced relatively to the outer plate by an element 3 in such a way that the inner plate can be inserted through the opening with the longer axis of the outer plate angularly displaced with respect to the longer axis of the opening and then caused to engage the edge portion of the wall around the opening by rotating the assembly bodily so as to bring the longer axis of the outer plate into line with the longer axis of the opening, and means for fixing the plates in the rotated position. In the construction shown the element 3 is an electric immersion heater and the limbs 6 pass through openings in the plate 5 and thus maintain the plate 5 in its angularly displaced position relatively to the outer plate. The fixing means consists of a screw 7 carried by the inner plate 5 and which passes through a hole in the outer plate, and a nut 8, rotation of which on the screw 7 draws the two plates towards each other into clamping engagement with the wall. A spring 9 is disposed between the two plates so that as the nut is moved in an unclamping direction the plates are moved apart by the spring. A gasket 10 is provided to seal the joint between the inner face of the plate 4 and the outer surface of the wall.
