Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A reciprocatory jaw crusher has both jaws 2, 2<SP>1</SP> Fig. 1, movable and interconnected on a pair of opposite sides by shock absorbers 5 attached through support means to a frame 1. Forces produced by movement of the jaws act in opposite directions on the support means to minimize the resultant force on the frame. Motion is imparted to the jaws by synchronously operating vibrators 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. Each shock absorber comprises flat brackets 6..10, Fig. 2, with rubber elements 11, the upper and lower brackets 6, 7 being secured to jaw 2<SP>1</SP> and the bracket 8 to jaw 2. Brackets 9, 10 are interconnected by an axle 12, Fig. 3, through a resilient element 13 to the frame 1. The vibrators comprise crank shafts 17, 18 driven via gearings and flexible couplings by an electric motor, and interconnected by a belt 27 and pulleys 26. In a second embodiment, transmission of impact pulses from the jaws to the vibrators 4, 4<SP>1</SP> is prevented by springs 30, Fig. 6, or rubber packings. Feed to and from the crusher is by conveyors.
