1,167,778. Sliding-clamp fasteners. OPTIHOLDING A:G. 18 Aug., 1967, No. 38156/67. Heading E2S. A stringer for a sliding clasp fastener has a single-filament row of fastener portions 1 of coil or meander form secured to a tape 2 by thermoplastic threads 3 which have been sewn to or woven with the portions 1 or sewn to an external cord, Fig. 2 (not shown), itself secured to the portions 1, or to an internal core 4 and which have subsequently been softened by heat so as to join with one another and/or with the portions 1 and/or cord or core 4 where these parts are also formed at least partly of thermoplastic. Double-chain stitching may be used to secure the portions 1 and a core 4 to the tape, the stitching, after heating, being broken into separate masses 6, Fig. 6.
