Abstract

1,167,360. Yarn hanks. ERBA MASCHINENBAU A.G. 30 Nov., 1966 [1 Dec., 1965; 7 March, 1966; 27 June, 1966], No. 53617/66. Heading B8M. [Also in Division D1] A hank is built up of continuously staggered cross-wound layers, the first layers being formed into an initial cone by continuous displacement, the later layers extending beyond the initial cone with the same degree of taper, and the whole being such that the thread can be axially drawn off from the hanks without the latter having to rotate, and is characterized in that the layers are secured by lacing comprising a plurality of laces 5 arranged on the periphery of the hank so that the hank is sub-divided along its length into a plurality of sections. Divider elements 3 are used which are themselves attached to a longitudinally stable element 4 over the full length of the hank. The divider elements may be formed in situ by threads, a row of hooked needles being forced through the hank from the outside into the internal cavity of the hank where a tie-off thread is passed through the needle hooks, the thread being pulled through the hank windings in the form of loops when the needles are withdrawn. The loops so formed are then attached to longitudinally stable elements by welding, sticking or clamping. The start and end of each section may be indicated by colour coded stabilizing elements.
