Abstract

1,167,176. Dyeing metal modified polymers. DURAND & HUGUENIN A.G. 9 Nov., 1966 [12 Nov., 1965], No. 50137/66. Heading D1B. Metal-modified polymers of unsaturated hydrocarbons are dyed in acid or neutral solutions at 50-140‹C with an organic dye which contains at least one group which imparts solubility in water and which is eliminated under the said conditions and also contains at least after the elimination of the said group or groups at least one group capable of binding metal and which dyestuff is free from further groups imparting solubility in water. Preferably metal modified poly-propylene is dyed as above, metals specified are Al, Ni, Zn, Cu, Vn, Fe, Cr and Co, which may be present as an oxide, salt or complex of a fatty acid, phenolate or dithiocarbamate.
