Abstract
1,167,091. Drying gases. BLACK, SIVALLS & BRISON, Inc. 2 Aug., 1967 [18 Aug., 1966], No. 35467/67. Heading B1L. [Also in Division F4] A system for drying a gas stream comprises three dessicant towers, and at any one time, one of the towers dries the gas stream, a second tower is heated to revivify its dessicant, and a third tower which has been previously heated is cooled so that it may subsequently be used to dry the gas stream without changing the latter's temperature. As illustrated, the first tower 62 dries a gas stream from a line 60. Part of the stream from the line 60 passes through a line 68 to cool the third tower 66. Gas from the third tower is heated at 70 and is then passed through the second tower 64. Hot wet gas from the tower 64 is cooled in an ambient air cooler 72 and in a refrigeration unit 74 (see Division F4). The unit 74 condenses vapour in the gas stream and the condensate is removed before the gas stream rejoins the main gas stream upstream of the tower 62. The functions of the towers are changed when appropriate.
