Abstract
1,166,910. Vehicle hub reduction gearing; vehicle brakes. IFA GETRIEBEWERKE BRANDENBURG VEB. 8 Sept., 1967, No. 41211/67. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F2] A wheel flange 7, which is connectible to and within a wheel rim 9, is drivable from an input shaft of an hydraulic or other motor 2 through gyratory planet gearing disposed within a housing 1 adjacent the wheel flange, the planet gearing including a second, annular, flange 5 which is restrained by a brake 6 to drive the wheel flange 7. The planet gearing comprises a pair of eccentric sun wheels 3 engaging a pair of gyratory planet gears which mesh with gear teeth on the inside of the second flange 5, the wheel flange 7 being driven by pins 8 on which the gyratory gears are mounted. The wheel may be braked by actuating both the brake 6 and a brake 14 mounted on the input shaft. A second transmission ratio may be provided by mounting gear pairs 15, 16 on the pins 8 each gear 15 meshing with the internal gear of the flange 5 and each gear 16 meshing with an annulus gear 18 which may be held stationary by actuating a brake 17. The two ratios are obtained by actuating the respective brakes 6 and 17 and braking of the wheel is obtained by actuating both brakes together. To ensure that the motor is operative before the gearing, the hydraulic brakes are arranged in series with the motor although braking of the wheel is obtainable whether the motor is operating or not.
