1,166,611. Spring wheels. J. D. W. GREGG. 7 Nov., 1966, No. 30472/65. Heading B7C. A spring wheel and tyre assembly comprises a tyre 10 formed on its inner and outer peripheries with non-communicating transverse slots 12, 15, respectively, connected to the hub 13, 14 by inextensible arms or spokes 11. In this embodiment, the spokes are pivoted in metal or like segments embedded in the tyre and to the hub parts 13, 14 which are relatively rotatable to allow expansion and contraction of the tyre. In another embodiment, the hub parts are relatively axially movable against a spring and are connected to the tyre by radial arms whereby flexure of the tyre causes relative axial movement of the hub parts.
