Abstract

1,166,336. Friction clutches. FABRYKA OBRABIAREK "RAFAMET". 20 Oct., 1967 [28 Oct., 1966], No. 47774/67. Heading F2C. An electromagnetically operated friction clutch comprises rollers 15 which wedge between a conical surface 2 on one clutch member 1 and cams 16 on an axially slidable ring 14 rotatably fast with the other clutch member 17. Energization of a stationary electromagnet 4 moves an armature 10 and thrust ring 11 left against the bias of a return spring 13 and the thrust ring 11 acts on the ring 14 to urge the rollers 15 into initial engagement with the conical surface 2 whereafter relative rotation between the clutch members causes the rollers to ride up the cams 16 into full wedging engagement.
