Abstract

In a radiation monitoring circuit in which a radiation sensitive device F is included in an A.C. circuit with a transformer T, a limiting resistor W, and a rectifier arrangement G, and wherein switching members R 1 , R 2 which may be reed relays and have differing response values are included in the rectifier D.C. path, a device U which may be oscillatory or rotary periodically interrupting the radiation at a predetermined markspace ratio is included in the radiation path. Relay R 2 is normally energized when the device F is receiving the interrupted radiation and its contacts control a power relay R 3 but relay R 1 is only operated by excessive current in the event of a short circuit or a flash over in the detector tube. An interruption for 25% of a cycle at 10 C. P. S. is exemplified in connection with a flame monitoring system in which detectors respond to ultraviolet light.
