Abstract
1,165,807. Mould-lining materials. FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd. May 22, 1968 [2 June, 1967], No. 25524/67. Heading B3F. [Also in Division C3] A sand-mould dressing comprises (a) particulate refractory material suspended in (b) an organic liquid medium and, as suspension agent (c) a hydrogenated vegetable oil. (a) may be talc, graphite, or coke dust; (b) may be isopropanol; (c) may be hydrogenated castor oil; (c) may form 0À05-5% wt. based on the whole composition. Bentonite, as high-temperature binder, and wood resin, as low-temperature binder, may also be present. (c) Is preferably dispersed into (b) by a high-shear dispersing operation, followed by addition of the remaining ingredients. In a contrasting example, quaternary alkyl ammonium montmorillonite gel is employed instead of (c).
