Abstract
116,578. Watson, T. D. July 5, 1917. Signdlling and indicating apparatus. - In winding, haulage, and other machinery having a pointer moving over a graduated circle to indicate the position of the cage, aluminous signal is provided to give warning of the approach of the end of the wind, and another luminous signal to show whether the reversing gear is in proper position for the commencement of a wind. A lamp A is arranged behind a fixed perforated screen D superimposed on two movable perforated screens C, B. The screen B is provided with adjustable transparencies, red at 0, P, N and green at N<1>, and is moved laterally by a. rack and gear - wheel K operated from the engine. The screen C is moved laterally by the reversing gear L to bring one or the other of the pair of perforations shown into register with the perforations in screen D. In operation, a warning red light appears at one of the small perforations Q, Fig. 1, to indicate approach of one or the other cage to top, and a red light appears and remains at one of the two lower openings at completion of the wind. On reversing the engine, the red light in one of the two lower openings is obscured and a green light appears in the other opening. Electric contacts may be provided on the screen B to ring a bell in the engine room at predetermined points.
