Abstract

1,165,050. Adding filter aid onto filter discs. INSTITUT FUR CHEMIEANLAGEN. 1 Dec., 1967, No. 54729/67. Heading B1D. A method of depositing filter aid onto filter discs (e.g. of a rotatable disc filter) comprises conducting a liquid containing the aid over the upper horizontal permeable surface of a disc. from its periphery to its centre, and at least maintaining the flow velocity during the journey so as to obtain even deposition of aid. The apparatus described and claimed includes a plurality of discs 3 mounted on a vertical hollow shaft 2, suction holes 7 being provided above the discs to maintain the flow velocity during aid deposition as required. In one embodiment. Fig. 1, resiliently loaded sealing means 10, 11 can block passages 5 of the suction holes according to the vertical disposition of a displaceable rod 9. In another embodiment, (Fig. 2, not shown) the suction holes (13) are connected to a common conduit (14) outside the shaft 2.
