Abstract

1,164,989. Inflatable buildings. T. W. MCLORG. 27 Feb., 1968 [13 March, 1967], No. 9331/68. Heading E1A. A pneumatically inflated shelter said to be. suitable for covering a large area such as a town consists of a membrane made up from sections 13 which are joined edge-to-edge, for a central vent hole or valve 14 and embody an integral arrangement of tension cables 15, 16 anchored by tethering cables 17 serving, if desired, as storm-water drainage channels. The membrane may be made of poly vinyl fluoride- or other materials for details of which including treatment and reinforcing the Specification should be referred to. Each section of the membrane when inflated, is substantially dome-shaped and the shelter is provided with a sloping edge portion reaching to the ground and internal curtain walls as necessary, see Fig. 1 (not shown). For minor details concerning pressurisation, venting and drainage together with mathematical. desiderate the Specification should be referred to.
