[Also in Division E1] A process for the sealing of objects such as channels, pipelines and prefabricated parts, e.g. wall blocks, and for waterproofing and strengthening the ground and floors comprises the steps of bringing water glass or a medium containing water glass into engagement with the place (s) to be sealed, waterproofed or strengthened and exposing the water glass or medium containing water glass to a fluoride gas or a mixture of fluoride gases. In the Figure the water glass or medium containing water glass is pumped by a wagon 6 into a channel stretch 3 through a shaft 4, the channel 3 being isolated by a partly inflated balloon 2 at one end and a closure body 1 at the other. The water glass or medium containing the same is homogenized by pulling a mixing body 5 therethrough, the liquid being forced into the surface of the channel 3 under its own pressure. The channel is then pumped clear of excess water glass &c. and the ends of the channel 3 are further sealed (Fig. 2, not shown), a fluoride gas or a mixture of fluoride gases being passed through one seal and the other seal supporting a pipe through which the channel can be initially evacuated or which is attached to a pressure gauge. In further embodiments (Figs. 3 to 6, not shown) several members are disclosed by which the amount of water glass &c. brought to the place(s) to be sealed &c. is limited. The water glass &c. may be brought to the place(s) by electrophoresis.
