Abstract

116,427. Gerrard, A. J. Sept. 20, 1917. Wire-strainers.- One end of the wire is formed into a loop B, which is engaged by a projection 10 at the end of a bar 5 formed with teeth 7 The other end A of the wire is passed through the loop B and is gripped by jaws 21, 23 on a bar 13 adapted to be moved along the bar 5 by means of pawls 18 pivoted to an operating-lever 15. The bar 5 has a slot 6 to receive a pivot bolt 14 passing through parts 16 of the lever 15. The pawls 18 are held in engagement with the teeth 7 by a spring 19<1> secured to the bar 13 by a bolt 20. The jaw 23 is formed with teeth 23' and is pivoted to the bar 13 by moans of a bolt 24, a spring-controlled handle 25 being provided to enable the jaw to be moved to release the wire after the whole implement has been moved so as to bend the part A of the wire into a bight engaging the loop B.
