Abstract

1,163,759. Suction boxes. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. 8 Nov., 1966 [3 Dec., 1965], No. 50011/66 Heading D2A. [Also in Division Cl] In a paper making machine the suction box cover comprises a cast silicon substrate, coated with silicon carbide. The cover is prepared by casting a silicon black with appropriate perforations and coating it with silicon carbide. The SiC produced is preferably the beta form, has a hardness of 988-2900 on the Knoop Scale, and has a free carbon content no greater than 0.89% by weight and a free silicon content no greater than 36.5% by weight.
