Abstract
1,163,690. Shovelling machines. C. STEPHENSON. 18 May, 1968, No. 23763/68. Heading E1F. The jib-mounted bucket of a shovelling machine comprises a support section 14 pivotally mounted on the jib 16 and a scoop section 12 pivoted at 28 on the support section 14. The inter-relationship of the two sections is such that during an upward scooping stroke of the bucket through a stockpile the section 14 farms a continuation of the section 12. Thus on an upstroke material from the pile is contained by the sections 12 and 14 and then discharged at the top of the up stroke through the section 14 onto a conveyer 20 of the machine..During the downward return movement of the bucket the scoop section 12 pivots relative to the support section 14 as the support section 14 is pivoted relative to the jib so that the 'bucket will clear the stockpile as the bucket is lowered into a position 'ready for another scooping stroke through the stockpile.
