Abstract

1,163,561. Conveying and sorting bobbins. MAREMONT CORP. 8 Sept., 1966 [8 Sept., 1965], No. 40237/66. Heading D1F. Yarn supply bobbins are conveyed from winding machine through a sorting mechanism which permits bobbins having sufficient yarn remaining thereon to be conveyed back to the machine for further yarn to be unwound therefrom. In the embodiment shown, winding stations are moved along track 24 past bobbin supply magazine 20. Supply bobbins discarded from the winding stations drop down chute 81 and pass along driven conveyor belts 84, 86 to a sensing device 88 comprising a plate swingably mounted at its ends above the conveyor. A bobbin passing under the plate lifts the upstream end of the plate to close a switch in an ejector circuit while if the bobbin has sufficient yarn thereon it also lifts the downstream end of the plate sufficient to open a normally closed switch in the ejector circuit to stop the ejector operating and to allow the partially wound bobbin to pass onto a conveyor 92. The ejector comprises, air nozzles 130, 132 which blow bobbins with insufficient yarn thereon into container 114. Conveyor 92, having a plurality of bobbin holding positions spaced along it, is moved forward one position to feed a partially wound bobbin to magazine 20 if there is a bobbin in that position on the conveyor, each time a winding station passes the magazine and actuates switch 4LS; while a similar conveyor 42, which feeds fully wound bobbins to magazine 20 is also moved forward one position each time switch 4LS is actuated if a switch 3LS has not been opened by the presence in the magazine below the feed chute of conveyor 42 of a partially wound bobbin. The magazine is moved one position forward by a continuously rotating friction plate when a winding station actuates switch 2LS to cause a solenoid momentarily to withdraw a locking pin from a hole adjacent a bobbin holder 26. Divisional Specification No. 1163562 describes and claims a cop magazine and conveyor arrangement.
