Abstract

1,163,467. Hydraulic control circuits. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. Oct.20, 1967 [Nov. 2, 1966], No. 47776/67. Heading F1P. [Also in Division E1] A hydraulic jack 22, Fig. 1, for tilting the bucket 15 of an earth digger is supplied by a pump 32, Fig. 2, through a line 36, a control valve 34 of the 3-position spool type and a line 68; the spool 52 of the valve 34 being held in the supply position R against a spring 62 by a disconnectable link between it and the spool 126 of a cylinder 124 and which link is broken at a pre-selected point in the lifting stroke of the jack 22 by the spool 126 being displaced against a spring 90 by pressure directed from an accumulator 152 in a branch 120 of line 68 through a further spool valve 100 actuated by a cam 113 carried by the jack rod. The link comprises a lever 76 which when rotated anti-clockwise about the axis of a shaft 78 fixed thereto moves the spool 52 from the neutral position H to supply position R, and the lever 76 and spool 52 are held by engagement of a roller 88 secured to a lever 82 against a cam surface 94 of lever 76 until cam 113 opens valve 100 to admit pressure fluid to cylinder 124 thereby displacing spool 126 to the right and lever 82 anti-clockwise. The spool 52 then assumes neutral position H. The cylinder 124 has an air bleed orifice 138. The loaded bucket is then lifted by two further hydraulic jacks 23 (only one of which is shown). Lever 76 is rotated clockwise to move spool from H to D position whereupon pressure fluid is supplied to the rod end of jack 22 resulting in disengagement of cam 113 from valve spool 102 which is returned by its spring 110 to the position shown in which supply is cut-off from cylinder 124. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1, 060, 347.
