Abstract
1,162,520. Transistor sawtooth circuits. PHILCO-FORD CORP. 19 Oct., 1966 [19 Oct., 1965], No. 46680/66. Heading H3T. A line deflection output stage, e.g. for a portable television receiver, is arranged to be operated from a lower voltage supply 16 by connecting the supply 16 via diode 18 to a tapping on the output transformer 12 intermediate the connections to the storage capacitor 11 and the collector of the output transistor 10, so as to consume a constant current during the scan. If a 12-volt supply 16 is employed, the effective operating voltage across capacitor 11 may be 30 volts. During the first half of each line scan, energy stored in the yoke 13 causes current to circulate through the damping diode 15, capacitor 11 and capacitor 14, storing energy in capacitor 11 which is utilized during the second half of the scan by current through the transistor 10. The turns between terminals B and D compensate for the difference in voltage drop in diode 15 and transistor 10. The current in diode 18 is constant during the scan. Transistor 10 is turned off on the base during the flyback but allowed to become conductive when the collector voltage reverses during the second half of each scan.
