Abstract

1,162,227. Lamps. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 4 Oct., 1966 [8 Oct., 1965], No. 44303/66. Heading F4R. [Also in Division C3] Illumination devices are made from a transparent thermoplastic polycarbonate rendered translucent by the incorporation of 0À5 to 5 wt. per cent of glass fibres or powder (see Division C3). Specified devices are coverings of light sources, luminous tubes, coverings in radio or television apparatus, measuring instruments and signalling devices, Venetian blinds, strip light fittings and luminous letters. In examples, the products of the invention are compared with similar material containing pigments (BaSO 4 + TiO 2 ) as opacifier and are stated to give greater light transmission with reduction in the distance at which the incandescent spiral of the light source can be recognized. The compositions of claim 6 of Specification 1,042,418 are disclaimed.
