116,208. Booth, F. A., Southerton, J. F., and Day & Millward. Oct. 8, 1917. Steelyard apparatus.-Relates to steelyard or like weighing-appliances of the type in which a balance arm a is arranged to slide with respect to a body or support b which carries the knife-edge bearings c, d for the sustaining shackle e and the shackle f for holding the load respectively. According to the invention, an extension g is provided on the body b for the bar a to pass through. The bar is graduated in equal divisions throughout to indicate the weights represented by the various positions of the bar in relation to the body b, and notches may be cut on the bar for engagement by a pawl-like member h on the body b or extension g. Rollers may be fitted to facilitate the movement of the bar. A small sliding weight i is arranged on the body h for use in fine or light weighings, and the bar may be provided with a weighted end handle or grip to increase its counterpoise effect. According to the Provisional Specification, the small sliding weight for use in fine or light weighings may be arranged on the extension.
