Abstract

1,161,958. Emulsion polymerization of vinyl fluoride. DEUTSCHE SOLVAY-WERKE G.m.b.H. 17 April, 1968 [18 April, 1967], No. 18214/68. Heading C3P. Vinyl fluoride is emulsion polymerized in the presence of a reaction medium comprising water, a catalyst, an emulsifier and an alkali metal silicate at a pressure of from 20 to 60 atmospheres, and at a temperature of 20‹ to 70‹ C. and the polyvinyl fluoride so formed is then precipitated by adding an electrolyte to the reaction medium. In the examples, waterglass, ammonium persulphate, a perfluorinated carboxylic acid, sodium dioctylsulphosuccinate, and sodium lauryl sulphate are used.
