Abstract

1,161,163. Pad applicators. G. SCHWARTZMAN. 20 March, 1967 [29 Nov., 1966], No. 12905/67. Heading A4K. A dauber for applying shoe polish comprises a glass or plastics bottle 13 having its outlet 18 closed by a resilient stretchable valve member 14 which has a plurality of bores 38 extending from the top of the valve to the part of its side wall 32 normally in contact with the wall of the outlet 18. When a fluid absorbent chamber 40 is pressed against a surface to be covered with shoe polish a metallic stem 42 secured to the dauber and disposed in a recess 34 in the valve causes the valve to be stretched so that the inner ends of the bores 38 communicate with the polish in the bottle. A circular rib 80 surrounds the outer ends of the bores 38.
