Abstract
1,161,103. Carrying bulk cargo. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. 15 Nov., 1966, No. 51244/66. Headings B7A and B7M. [Also in Division B8] A bulk cargo carrying ship 1 for the transporatation of dry cargo, such as grain or dust ores, coal and salt, is provided with cargo holes 7; a cargo piping system 19, 24, 30, 33, 20 through which a conveying liquid medium supplied from shore tank 6 is circulated during unloading; a cargo feeding pipe 16 and eductor 32 for discharging the cargo received in the holds 7 to the cargo piping system aided by sprinkling pipe 36 and nozzles 38 for scattering the conveying liquid medium in the holds; a liquid medium storage tank 25; means comprising jet pipe 45, jet nozzle 47, Fig. 3 (not shown) for gathering the cargo at the bottom of the holds by injection of the conveying liquid medium, and means comprising receiving groove 13 and receiving sink 15 for discharging the gathered cargo, along with the conveying liquid medium carrying over the cargo, to the cargo piping system. The assemblies outlines may be used to ballast the bulk carrier but an additional ballast piping system comprises seachest 53, ballast pump 57, ballast delivery pipe 55, Fig. 5 (not shown), and the liquid medium feed pipe 24.
