Abstract

1,159,929. Asphalt storage hoppers. A. TEICHERT & SON. Inc. 8 Nov., 1966, No. 50068/66. Heading E1G. A raised cylindrical hopper 9 for storing hot asphaltic concree which, is disoha.rged to trucks driven beneath it has a heated double wall construction comprising inner and outer welded-plate walls 36, 38, Fig. 3, an air space 41, glass fibre insulation 37, and an intermediate wall 39 (e.g. of aluminium) carrying electric heating elements 42 controlled by thermocouples. The outlet collar 18 is closed by intergeared pivoted gates 21, 22 actuated by a ram 28 and is either surrounded by an electrically heated muff, Fig. 5 (not shown) or enclosed in a detachable heated oil bath. Fig. 8 (not shown). The hopper may be replenished' by conveyer from a hot mix plant.
