Abstract

1,159,677. Pneumatic tyres. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 1 Aug., 1966 [12 Aug., 1965], No. 48188/68. Divided out of 1,159,675. Heading B7C. [Also in Division B5] A fabricless pneumatic cycle tyre comprises a pair of spaced beads and a shaped flexible composition extending from one bead to the other to form the sidewall and tread portions, said composition having a Young's modulus of at least 4'5x 102 pounds per square inch and an elongation of not more than 15% in length when subjected to a load of 100 pounds per square inch of sectional area at a temperature of 30‹ C. over a period of one month. The tyre may be made in one piece by injecting or transferring the composition into a mould. In another arrangement, the composition is applied in granular form to a mould to form a halftyre, and in yet another arrangement a sheet of oriented composition is cut into blanks which are fitted around a core and consolidated in a mould. Compositions having the physical properties referred to above, are described.
