In a monaural pick-up, a substantially horizontal stylus bar 1 (Fig. 1) is supported against the pick-up housing 2 by a substantially vertical coupler element 3 pivotally supported on the housing 2 through a resilient buffer 4, and horizontal movements of the stylus bar 1 are transmitted to a transducer element 5 through one or more substantially horizontal arms 12, 13 capable of at least a limited amount of pivotal movement relative to the coupler element 3 and the transducer element 5. The transducer element 5 is preferably a " twister " so mounted as to be capable of limited damped angular yield about its upper edge. The transducer element 5 has one end fixed in a mounting plate 6 (Fig. 2) of polyurethane having a portion 10 enabled to yield laterally with resilient damping to large twisting couples. The other end of the transducer element 5 has a polyurethane cap 11. The cap 11, arms 12, 13 and coupler element 3 are preferably integrally moulded of polyurethane. One or more apertures 14 in the coupler element 3 absorb vertical shocks, and control the frequency response.
