Abstract

[Also in Divisions C3 and C4] A low-friction surface coating is formed on a substrate by applying to the substrate a dispersion composition comprising (a) 20 to 70% by weight of total solids of polytetrafluoroethylene particles of molecular weight from 500,000 to 10 million; (b) 10 to 70% by weight of total solids of a polyurethane resin component, consisting essentially of a moisture curing polyester-polyisocyanate reaction product having a viscosity of 2.5 to 7.5 poise at 25‹C, an isocyanate value of 2.5% to 4.5%, and a volatile organic isocyanate content below 0.5%, the resin component being dissolved in a solvent material; (c) 10 to 40% by weight of total solids of polyvinyl butyral; and (d) a fluid carrier material; the total solids content on a solvent free basis of (a), (b) and (c) of the composition being less than 25% by weight of the composition. In the Examples degreased steel panels and rubber strips are spray coated.
