Abstract

1,157,924. Producing silver. ERDOLCHEMIE G.m.b.H. April 28, 1966 [April 29, 1965], No.3066/69. Divided out of 1,157,922. Heading C7F. Silver of large surface area suitable for a catalyst is produced by applying silver lactate to an unpolished metal surface which has been heated to 300‹ C. Lactates of gold, platinum, barium, magnesium, calcium or cerium can be admixed with the original silver lactate. A porous catalyst may be prepared by including an expanding agent such as lactic acid hydrazide or ammonium carbonate. In one example a heated steel tube is sprayed with molten hydrated silver lactate mixture containing 10% lactic acid hydrazide to produce a silver coating.
