Abstract

1,157,862. Friction clutches. MASCHINENFABRIK STROMAG G.m.b.H. 2 March, 1967 [19 Aug., 1966], No. 9936/67. Heading F2C. A disc clutch is cooled by oil supplied to an annular chamber 3 and fed centrifugally through bores 4, 5 to the inner periphery of the clutch discs. The bores 4 may, as shown, be inclined to the axis to assist flow under centrifugal force or may, Fig. 2 (not shown), have an inclined portion and a portion parallel to the clutch axis. The bores 5 nearest the chamber 3 may be smaller than those further from the chamber to assist even distribution of coolant to the clutch discs.
