Multiple-web feeding and guiding arrangements.-Continuous stationery including a plurality of superposed zig-zag folded recording webs 4 to 8, Fig. 2, which are interleaved with pagewidth transfer webs 9 to 12, is decollated after printing by passing the recording webs over turning bars 13 to 16, 28, winding the transfer webs on to spindles 17 to 20 and then advancing the recording webs, which are driven by a pin feed mechanism 21, over equalizer bars 23 to 26 for re-folding the recording webs in a registered manner on a platform 27. The turning bars 13 to 16 are constituted by hollow semicircular bars each of which serves also as a bearing pedestal for a transfer web spindle. The equalizer bars 24 to 26 are mounted on pivotal arms which are journalled at the ends of a feed drum 22 and the lowest point of disposition of the bars, which rest on the recording webs to effect tensioning and determine the lengths of paths necessary for equalization of the different paths taken by the respective webs, is adjustable by pins 62 which are slidable in slots 63. Page-width transfer web feeding mechanism.- The transfer webs 9 to 12, Fig. 2, which are fed through the printing unit 2 (Fig. 1) at a slower speed than the recording webs 4 to 8, are wound on to spindles 17 to 20, each spindle such as 17, Fig. 3, being provided at one end with a diametral slot 33 for reception of an end of the transfer webs, which are retained on the spindle by rings 34. The ends of the spindles are provided with frusto-conical seats in which are received frusto-conical bearing points 35, 36, the former of which is attached to a shaft 37 journalled in bearings 41, 42 and the latter is integral with a shaft 38, which is journalled in a bearing sleeve 44. The spindles are driven in pairs by common gears 47, Fig. 2, meshing with a further gear 48 which in turn meshes with a pinion 49 fast with a driving gear 50 that is journalled on one arm of a bifurcated lever 54. The pinion 49 drives the spindles at a slower winding speed, whilst a pinion 56, which also meshes with the gear 50 and is mounted on the other arm of the bifurcated lever 54, drives the spindles, when pivoted into engagement with an associated gear 47, at a faster speed to rewind the remaining portions of the transfer webs when the recording webs have been exhausted.
