Abstract

1,157,040. Coated paper. SCOTT BADER & CO. Ltd. 16 Feb., 1968 [15 Nov., 1967], No. 51930/67 Heading B2E. {Also in Division C3] Wallpaper bearing a ground coat and which has been printed, is rendered smear and water proof by coating it with a transparent composition comprising 45-90% of a syn thetic polymer which is in the form of an emulsion or latex, said polymer being capable of forming a transparent, flexible, non-blocking film, 1-40% of a polysaccharide which is only partially soluble in cold water, and 1-30% of a mineral filler, the percentages being on a total dry weight basis. The coating has a gloss of less than 16% when measured at an angle of 45‹ (compared' with 100% for black plate glass). Exemplified coatings are based on polyvinyl acetate or a vinylidune chloride copolymer, and contain a starch and silica as a filler.
