1,157,037. Automatic exchange systems. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 25 Oct., 1967 [28 Oct., 1966], No. 48431/67. Heading H4K. At each cross-point of an electronic cross-point switch, a pair of row conductors of the same line can be connected to a pair of column conductors of another line by a pair of controlled semi-conductor devices and the pairs of conductors are cross-coupled through identical semi-conductor devices connected so that they cannot become conductive. The semi-conductor devices may be thyristors or field effect or other transistors. The non-conductive semiconductors balance the capacitance of the active semi-conductors and reduce noise. The semi-conductors at each cross-point should be matched and may be batch manufactured, as, for example, integrated circuits. A thyristor arrangement in which the active thyristors of a row line have their control electrodes connected through diodes to a control potential source, and the non-conductive thyristors have their control electrodes connected directly to their emitters is detailed.
