Abstract

1,156,412. Electrophotography. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 4 Aug., 1966 [4 Aug., 1965], No. 34975/66. Heading H1K. An electrophotographic material comprises a support carrying a layer of particulate photoconductor dispersed in a binder comprising at least 25 wt per cent of a sucrose ester. In an embodiment a mixture of ZnO, sucrose benzoate isobutyrate, Bromophenol blue and anhydro-3,3<SP>1</SP>- di - # - carboxyethyloxacarbocyanine hydroxide are suspended in acetone and coated on paper. The octa-acetate, benzoate and di-acetate hexaisobutyrate esters of sucrose may also be used. Alternatively the sucrose ester and the photoconductor may be mixed with 1,1-bis-(4-hydroxyphenol) - 1 - (4 - chlorophenyl) - ethane and rosin. Other bis-phenols which may be used are 4,4<SP>1</SP> - (2 - norbornylidene) - bis - (2,6 - dichlorophenol), or α - phenol - p - cresol. Guaiacol, eugenol, 2-naphthyl benzoate and 1,4-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene may also be mixed with the sucrose ester.
