Abstract

1,155,629. Moulding gramophone records. METRIK ENG. (CROYDON) Ltd. 16 Oct., 1967 [14 Oct., 1966], No. 45927/66. Heading B5A. In a method of making a gramophone record a predetermined amount of plasticized synthetic resin, e.g. polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl chloride is fed into a mould to form a disc preform which is ejected with a label on one side and pressed to form a record. The mould comprises a cylinder 10 having a removable base 12 and a piston 11 to the space between which plastics is fed from an injection device via nozzle passage 19. The hollow piston rod 13 is mounted on a guide 14 and is spring biased upwardly to clear the inlet passage 19. An arm 18 carried by the rod 13 co-operates with a micro-switch which controls the motor of the injection device and a pneumatic motor for moving the piston 11 downwardly to eject the disc on a label 20 on the base 12. A second label is placed on top of the disc before it is put in a gramophone record press.
