Abstract

1,155,287. Linear measuring instrument. S.G. YOUNG. Jan. 11, 1968 [Oct.25, 1966], No.47862/66. Heading G1M. [Also in Division E2] In a linear measuring instrument comprising telescoping tubular staffs 1, 2, the staff 1 and 2 are provided with appertures 12, 13 through which may extend releaseable locking means comprising a spring-loaded tapered button 6. An apertured reinforcing sleeve 5 surrounds the outer tube 2. The sleeve may be shrunk or welded on the tube and may be of the same material.
