1,154,723. Diaphragm pumps. PORTERLANCASTRIAN Ltd. Aug.17, 1966 [July 17, 1965], No.30469/65. Heading F1A. A diaphragm pump, e.g. for dispensing beer, has a diaphragm 20, e.g. of neoprene, clamped between upper and lower chamber walls 2, 4 which are convex relative to the diaphragm at their peripheries and concave relative to the diaphragm at their centres, beer under pressure being supplied above the diaphragm and being discharged through port 18 by gas under pressure supplied beneath the diaphragm. The diaphragm has a bead 22 received in corresponding grooves in the chamber walls. The chamber wall shape prevents trapping of air or beer and provides a self-cleaning action by the diaphragm.
