A vehicle seat comprises a frame 1, a plurality of parallel sinuous springs 2 pivotally secured at their rear ends to a cross-member of the frame 1, and secured by clips 4 to a cross-member 3 4 of a bent wire element 3, the element 3 having two parallel arms 3 1 which are inclined to the horizontal, two torsion sections 3 2 mounted, at 5, on and extending transversely of the seat frame 1, and two arms 3 3 each engaged with an abutment 6 carried by the frame 1. A border wire 7 is clipped, at 8, to the springs 2 and optionally also to the wire cross-member 3 4 . The torsion sections 3 2 may seat in an upwardly open channel (11, Figs. 3, 4). The abutment 6 may be adjustably positioned relative to the frame 1 so that the trailing arms 3 3 may be selectively inclined. The abutment 6 may comprise a rotatable block with bearing surfaces (6 1 , Fig. 3) differently spaced from the axis (9) of rotation of the block. Alternatively, the abutment 6 (Fig. 5) comprises a pin selectively engaged in one of a number of apertures (12) in a sector plate (13). Alternatively (Fig. 6), the abutment 6 comprises a clip selectively engaged in one of a number of recesses in a member (14) secured to the frame 1.
