Abstract
115,300. Cloud, J. W. May 18, 1917. Fluid-pressure. - The connexion of a supplemental reservoir with the brake cylinder in applications of the brake, for quickly taking up the slack in the rigging, is effected directly by the slide of the triple valve. The supplemental reservoir 11 is connected to a port 14 and is charged from the valve chamber through a port 20 normally registering with the port 14. A passage 10 leads from the brake cylinder connexion 7 to a port 9 which is normally connected to the exhaust port 15 by the passage 19. When the valve moves to application position, the passage 19 connects the ports 9 and 14, thereby establishing unrestricted communication of the supplemental reservoir with the brake cylinder, the connexion of the auxiliary reservoir with the brake cylinder through the graduation valve 17 and port 8 being at the same time opened. The valve may also be provided with a passage 27, Fig. 4, for venting the train-pipe through passages 23, 24 to a chamber 21 which is open to exhaust through port 26 in the release position of the valve as shown.
