Abstract

Heading E1F [Also in Division G3] A controlled unit having a working member 12c such as the bucket of an excavator, and a number of link members 12a, 12b each provided with a hydraulic unit 13a, 13b, 13c having its liquid supply controlled by a corresponding control means is associated with a controlling unit having an operating member 14c and a number of link members 14a, 14b arranged in a geometrical system corresponding to that of the controlled unit, whereby each manually produced composite movement of the operating member causes the same composite movement of the working member, each hydraulic unit having a pump 26a, 26b, 26c the displacement of which is varied by the associated control means. In the illustrated embodiment each hydraulic unit is controlled by a valve, each as 22a, having a neutral position from which it may be displaced in either direction to cause the unit to expand or contract when one of a pair of solenoids 41a, 42a is energized. Each solenoid is controlled by a switch 39a, 40a co-operating with a cam 38a on a piston rod 34a which moves in response to relative movement between the piston 44a and cylinder 43a of a transmitter in the controlling unit. The supply to each valve is provided by one of the pumps 26a, 26b, 26c which is tilted by movement of the piston rod to vary its displacement. Feedback between each hydraulic unit of the controlled linkage and its corresponding member in the controlling unit is provided by an electric synchro-transmitter 19a rotated by a screwed connection 18a with the piston of the unit and a receiver 51a which rotates a screwed connection 49a with the piston 44a until the latter has been returned to its central position.
