A document file comprising a base and cover sheet plastic material is sub-divided into at least five compartments by means of at least one insert sheet 7 folded into four and having a cut-out 8 along one of the folds. The cover sheet 1, 2 is folded at 3 and heat sealed at 5 along the bottom edge 4. Alternatively, a fold strip may close the bottom edge. If the folded edges of the folded insert are assembled adjacent the cover fold 3, a series of compartments sealed on two sides are provided, but if the free edges are assembled adjacent the cover fold 3, then compartments alternately having two and three sealed edges are provided. Two or three inserts may be used resulting in nine or thirteen compartments respectively.
