Abstract

[Also in Division E2] A dismantlable incinerator comprises at least three similar cast iron side panels located vertically, each panel having hinge members on its vertical edges to enable the panel to be disengageably hinged along these vertical edges to the vertical edges of the adjoining panels, without the insertion of a pin not fixed to either of the panels being joined. In the preferred embodiment, each panel has three arcuate projections 3, 4 on one vertical edge, the top and bottom projections 3 having their concave sides facing inwards and the centre projection 4 having its concave side facing outwards, the other edge of the panel having a centrallydisposed downwardly projecting hinge pin 5 and two further outer hinge pin members in the form of guide bosses 6. As shown, the left hand panel 1 is raised sufficiently to allow the pin 5 to be introduced into the space between the projections 3, 4, the panel 1 then being lowered so that the projection 4 enters the gap between the pin 5 and the body of the panel 1, and the bosses 6 are embraced by projections 3. The panels can be provided with angled lugs 8, 9 along the top and bottom horizontal edges, for co-operating with corresponding lugs on another panel (see Fig. 3) when building a multi-storey incinerator. The panels are apertured to provide access for combustion air to the contents of the incinerator.
