Abstract

1,150,644. Temperature alarm systems. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 20 Dec.. 1966 [21 Dec., 1965], No. 54108/65. Headings G4N and G6C. [Also in Division G3] A control system is arranged to connect each of a plurality of groups of first electrical devices (e.g. thermocouples) in a continuously repeated sequence to a plurality of secondary electrical devices (e.g. amplifiers) arranged in groups in a specified manner. The invention is applicable to temperature protection in a nuclear reactor (Fig. 1, not shown) wherein three thermocouples are located in each of nine zones. The three thermocouples in the control zone of the reactor are permanently connected to trip amplifiers whilst the remaining thermocouples are cyclically connected by reed relays (Fig. 3, not shown) to further trip amplifiers. The reed relays are controlled by contacts of further reed relays, in turn controlled by logic and bi-stable circuits, the timing of individual energizing periods being determined by 5 second monostable circuits. The overall timing is controlled by 0À5 c/s. multivibrators.
