Abstract
1,150,260. Process for producing 5<SP>1</SP>-inosinic acid. AJINOMOTO CO. Inc. 19 Oct., 1967 [9 Nov., 1966], No. 47683/67. Heading C2C. 5<SP>1</SP>-Inosinic acid is prepared by culturing under aerobic conditions a strain of bacterium of the genus Arthrobacter, the strain being capable of producing 5<SP>1</SP>-inosinic acid, in an aqueous nutrient medium containing a carbon source, a nitrogen source, an inorganic phosphate, an organic nutrient, inorganic ions essential for the growth of the bacterium, and adenine. The only strain specified is Arthrobacter nucleogenes (ATCC. No. 21279), which is stated to belong to a new species and whose characteristics are described. The culturing is generally carried out at a temperature of from 25‹ to 37‹ C., and at a pH value of from 6À5 to 8À5. The 5<SP>1</SP>-inosinic acid in the cultured broth may be isolated by adsorption on active charcoal, by an ion exchange resin, and by solvent extraction.
