Abstract
1,149,812. Photographic silver halide materials. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. March 31, 1967 [March 31, 1966], No. 14914/67. Heading G2C. [Also in Division B2] Photographic silver halide material is made by coating a silver halide emulsion on to a film support of a linear polyester containing aromatic carbonyl groups which has been rubbed by irradiating the photographic film, during the production step of stretching it two-dimensionally or the subsequent step of setting it thermally, with U. V. rays and then applying to the irradiated surface a solution or a dispersion of gelatine or a hydrophilic resin in a mixed organic solvent containing 1-25% by weight of a solvent and/or a swelling agent or said polyester. The radiation may be conducted at 90-250‹C. the polyester may be polyethylene terephthalate or poly-1, 4- cyclohexylene dimethyl terephthalate or of a co-condensation polyester of terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid and glycol. The hydrophilic resin may be a synthetic polymeric compound soluble in organic solvents such as cellulose acetate phthalate, cellulose acetate maleate vinyl co-polymers such as of maleic anhydride and vinyl acetate, a mixed acetyl compound of polyvinyl alcohol containing-SO 3 M group, a mixed acetal of polyvinyl alcohol containing-COOM group a partially esterified compound of a divalent acid, a mixture of polyvinyl pyrrolidone and polyacrylic acid. A dispersion of a gelatine may also be used. Numerous suitable solvents are specified as well as suitable swelling agents. Other ingredients for example for improving the adhesive property to the film support or the emulsion layer, preventing the generation of electro-static charges and for coalering the support may be added to the under coating liquid. A hardening agent such as ethylene amine derivative or an epoxy derivative may be incorporated in the layer.
